No it doesn't bug me..

My eldest son Mickey has his very own quirks in the sense that he is easily affected by the things that happens around him. For instance, he'd stop doing his homework once the TV is on or very rigid about any change of plans that we might had uttered earlier.

This evening I was at my parent-in-law's house and as always, the TV would be at full blast while the 'audience' who's suppose to be there would be walking elsewhere in the house. Not wanting to be rude being asian and all, i'd normally wouldn't interfere with the house's matters although i'm quite particular on wastage of resources and energy (and not forgetting.. money) in my own home.

Anyway, i was on my own netbook watching U2's Magnificient MTV on youtube. Because of the uncomfortable noise, Mickey had said this to me, "look at them, they on the TV at full blast, then nobody watch. I want to hear the song also cannot..."

His words are quickly answered by my second son Zehn, "Nevermind lah. Two also can hear what." and gave his big smile.

This made me realise that my two son will be taking a different path in life. From the way things look, its likely that Zehn's perspective and journey through life is going to be easier than his elder brother. I just turned to Mickey and say "See?". Its a quick lesson with a good example for an elder brother.

It is also a lesson to me, maybe to the rest of us too that perhaps we should be viewing life in the lighter side of it. A lesson maybe only a 4 years old could teach grown-ups like us.

What do you think?

Talk is indeed cheap..and sometimes crap

This morning I was driving my car to work and I heard one of the topic discussed by the morning show DJs :

"If you love someone, should you change him/her or should you just accept them as who they are."

..so there was this one female caller who said something like this:
"well if you love someone, you shouldn't expect to change the person you love, but instead because of love...you YOURSELF MUST CHANGE in the name of love...." (..and i thought to myself..what a romantic sensible girl..) "...for example if your girlfriend told you smoking is BAD for health, you should change because you love your girlfriend..."

What?! She's talking all the good things..then suddenly blurted the actual truth in the relationship - instead of HER accepting that the boyfriend is a smoker, she's expecting HIM to change. All so conveniently-neatly-gift wrapped in the name of love...wtf?

Typical. Thats what I said to myself (with my eyes rolling..).

I read a column somewhere too in which a woman wrote something like this :

"Dear Doc, I'm a woman 27yrs of age and consider myself a very open minded person. As a career woman of the millineum i'm all too aware of the open mindedness that is required....bla bla bla..."

"My greatest problem currently is because my boyfriend loves to put pictures of naked women as his desktop wallpaper. It's not that I oppose that the picture could be readily available anywhere on the web, but...bla bla bla" signed Miss Millenium.

And the Doc's answer was something like this..

"Dear Miss Millenium, ....as you had declared yourself to be open minded, you should be understanding enough to be aware that the pictures are in abundance in the web and by putting it on the screen of your boyfriend's PC will not hurt your relationship..as he is not going out with another woman... As such you should not worry as there is no harm in his habits of displaying or having possession of such pictures."

Yeah well... talk about bullshitting. Some kinda 'open mindedness' you wanna brag about missy... this is just a case of one of those 'talk is cheap'. Well because the nature of the talk is cheap...that's why sometimes most of it sounds like crap too.. ^_~"

Me and my 1968 hard drive

I think I've been a bad boy of blog. I'd be a strong example of what a blogger shouldn't do...create a blog and take up webspace to only visit it again 2 years after. But hey...i'm sure there's plenty more of you out there that would do the same (trying hard to vanquish my guilty conscience..).

Well yeah..i'll just see what i can do about it.

Took me about a good solid 45 minutes before I could even remember how to get in here.... that's what happens when you're using one of those 1968 HDD drives. They tend to squeaks and squeal before you could squeeze any data out of them.. :)

Something out of the ordinary..

I came back from work today just to find the usual brochures that the close by shopping mall circulated.

I found something really magnificent and out of the ordinary the the mall had offered!!

Being in the tropics we dont get this always...further more its not everyday you'll get a VIP like this Datuk to yell in the hailer "murah! murah! apple hijau 3 biji sepuluh ringgit!.."

..what's really really really extraordinary is they are offering a good deal of family entertainment for a cheap price! Talk about one helluva good bargain...

..for RM3.99 you'll get a snowman to cut ice creams for you in assorted flavours. And they are available in Alor Star!

I went and got the 'already cut' ice creams. Not a sight of the fella though. I could've sworn the sign there says "Ais Krim Potong Snowman - RM3.99"

I guess the ice cream got it's revenge then....

Boyz in Da House

Tonite Jasmine is off to Penang for training tomorrow and will be back in the evening. So I'm left with the kiddos on Saturday. Lotz of plan already in my head, firstly I'm taking them for a swim in the public pool with my friends...

..and probably hang at somewhere with wi-fi connection for lunch as Mickey can play with Yahoo games and makan at the same time. I know I'm spoiling them but hey, it's not a daily thingy. We'd probably hang around the house after that... while daddy takes evening nap..hehe.

I enjoy having boyz in the house. Kinda having small sized buddies stayin together with you...don't you think so?
Oh yeah, for friends who knows Zehn..his current favorite tune is Shane Ward's - No Promises and What Goes Around Comes Around by Justin Timberlake. Boy does he sing when the tune in on air... :)

New breath for aging pet.

After having my faithful Kancil car for over 12 years, it's really time for a full overhaul of the engine. The car gets me to alot of places and saves me bundles of money. The car also taught me lessons after being towed 3 times in it's lifespan till now. Love that car.

So after checking for a good place for an overhaul, I finally go to one workshop here in Pumpong. The towkey told me that to overhaul will cost me two thousand bucks , whereas if I change the whole engine, it will cost me less than a thousand bucks. So it became an obvious choice..

..anyway as he was tryin to explain to me that he does this engine change thing always, he's pointing out to blocks of engine from various cars to show me...

"Ini kereta Toyota punya, dua belas valve punya..ini pun kita tukar, ini kancil punya, serupa lu punya.. ini CAMALA punya..."

"Aik? Kereta apa tu?"

By this time I thought he also changed a Camaro's engine for a car that looks like this..

...then I ask again.."kereta apa? CAMALA ka..." then he says "Ya lah.."

Then I had a deep thought......oh I see its a..

Kembara. (Oo..not the sportscar lah..)

..and the last but not least..

Bravo for my nephew for getting something out of the Xplorace IT held last weekend. I 'm suppose to enter and a friend of mine had asked me to browse in the Explorace website by TV3 instead. So after seeing a pic like this..

..I sorta freak out. There's no way I'm going to do that! This pic is probably taken from the bridge in Kuala Kedah which is freakin-ly high or if the organisers are REAL nutty people, they'd probably ask the contestants to absail from the Telekom tower. So..no freakin thanks.

Anyway, he didn't have to do that. Apart from my nephews and niece growing up around computers and mistaking computer parts as legos, he got 3rd prize.

I still remember the time he is growing up - playing with different OSes, viruses on his computer and siblings bickering to mummy would be - "..mama tengok lah abang nie, dia ambil display card adik!.."

Have a break...have a www.citcat.com

Visited the ICT Exhibition held at Suka Menanti, Alor Star today and found out about this company that does the translation to attract web traffic to their site.

The result is quite a good I might add and I am pretty surprised. After being translated though, I wonder if my not so savvy friends would be able to actually understand the terms used in malay instead.

Well for me in particular, it's difficult to grasp when this Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) is being translated as "Jauh Dibedah Kenderaan-Kenderaan".
I just realised my IQ isn't as good in malay... :)

..now THAT's a joke..

Paris Hilton was released within 3 days by some Sheriff because of medical reason. She was sentenced earlier to a jail term of 3 weeks....

Anyway..What was the Judge thinking? Could you contain a blond bombshell who looks like this in jail for that long?...
Plus...she's filthy rich. She just have to come up to one of the warden and say something like, "..you know, I won't forget the favors you did for me once I'm out..." and she'd live like the Queen of England already in there..

But hey, 3 weeks IS TOO LONG. So I guess she'll split in 3 days anyway.. coz being in jail is kinda boring hor..

I'm guilty..

I do believe I'm guilty if ever I'm caught by the fitness police. I've been having these 3 days straight and loving it..

I think I need to stay a fugitive and make another mangkuk of these for myself.

Looks inviting lah..

I live in a bumpy world..

As if Alor Star isn't one of the slow-life city of the country, I just realized that when sending my kids to their granny's home in the morning - I have to actually go over 20 speed bumps to and fro....mm..imagine that..

Small bang.

Got myself these small speaker for the phone by accident actually. Had the guy at the shop tested it for fun and the sound...whoa...cannot tahan liao. Anyway the guy was looking at me and my phone strangely enough to have song like 50cent's - In Da Club, Teriyaki Boyz etc.

He said even his phone doesn't carry such songs. He said "...ini phone betul kah lu punya..kita macam ini umur pun tak ada ini lagu loh.."

Being probably half my age, I politely told him "Ini lagu untuk orang tua. Orang muda dengar lagu lain.."

Fitting product name?

When I was about to post this, Jasmine said "..tak ada nama lain kah nak letak..."

...well beats me okay... only bought the microphone because Mickey wants to enter a karaoke contest at school.
Just in case some of you didn't get it with the name...try a more vulgar tone (hee hee)

A test of Friendship...say that again?

A customer of mine had told me that a test of friendship is to kesi-kesi (pretend) to borrow money from the friend, like not so much - maybe like ONLY a couple of hundred bucks or so, just to see whether he/she'll let you borrow the money.

If he/she 'tak kira' then you use it for 1 or 2 days and give back, then you know you have a real friend on your hand.

Well everybody is entitled to their own opinion and perception. To me it's either you have a rich friend that don't give a rat ass about two hundred bucks
... or a friend that has a family to support and - why should he let you test him out with HIS two hundred bucks?

My advise is - if you wanna test, give YOUR OWN two hundred bucks to test. That'll be good. Just to see how faithful I am as a 'FRIEND' - give IT TO ME. Then we'll see who's the friend.

That's when he says...eh..you got two hundred bucks I can borrow meh?

Malaysian astronaut...whoa...

We are sending our very own doctor cum part-time model into space or an army dentist to space. Finally we'll be proud of sending some good looking dude into space that certifiably apply band-aid or somebody to drill some bad-ass martian tooth. Man we should be proud. No pun intended.

I'm proud that my kid is gonna see the first Malaysian to wave from inside that spaceship in orbit live from space. It's a mark not only for the country, also for my kid to remember forever.

Perhaps we'll pack some of our own Malaysian astronaut pack to go too..

I'm afraid of heights

My friends are kind enough to bring me up the 'Eye on Malaysia'. I freak out.

I must confess that I'm afraid of heights. Be it on a ferris wheel with cage steel as big as your thumb - or an enclosed air-cond compartment. Lucky thing it's at night... plus i was holding my cam all the time taking the video and pictures.

Still freaks me out watching the video :P

First post

Well I've been online since 1994 and this is to add some things to-do since i'm on the web using my net time anyway..

Some (very little = very very few) of you might know me to be a serious person and not the funny kaki. But yeah well let's see where this blogs will lead to. Can't say eh?

Last weekend i've visited my friends Omana, Loo, Mona and Pris in KL. They kinda took me around town and I haven't the foggiest idea how ppl actually can drive in KL. In Alor Star, 10 cars ahead of you, we call it traffic jam already. You guys are living in a river full of cars.

Well anyway you guys are the best. No person alive should go on living without somebody like you as friends.
